Accepting that there appeared to be little to do in Home at TGS does not further reinforce your points, JOY, only shows that I am not a blind fanboy, unlike many on N4G. Observing a trailer does not indicate the game is in 'acceptable status' - often the opposite, developers will showcase the title when it is not ready to be playable... except Home isn't a game, which would make the showing of a trailer, a little confusing.
My point was that Kotaku's proclamation: "Home shou...
Addressing your points then, JOY.
Yes, it does sound like there was nothing to do, I can certainly see that and won't question it. Except... watching a trailer of a upcoming game at TGS entails nothing to do as well. Showing off White Knight Chronicles in unplayable form at TGS means what then - should we not showcase any game because there was nothing for the observer to do? Kotaku's logic is being applied selectively in this circumstance.
Of course, Home was playab...
Possibily Sony's R18/R16 games. Since TGS is an open event to the public, strictly speaking, they should require ID checks for playing games such as Killzone 2, Resistance 2, etc.
I think I saw a picture of Sony's display with the ID-check line and people waiting to play games on another site; if I find the link I'll post it up.
EDIT: Link is here:

Thank you, but I feel you haven't conceded anything! As a MBus student that happened to specialise in International Strategic Management, your original post perked my interest considerably, and I jumped at the opportunity to share thoughts.
Yes, Nintendo... a very interesting case, and one I was hoping you wouldn't mention... Like many, I am mystified by their extraordinary success, and believe that they well may become a case I will be studying in the near future. Drawing back t...
I see you are unfortunately down to your last bubble Kuest, so I will (try) to stick to topic. It has been a rare pleasure to have such a discussion on N4G. For the younger readers, this can be seen as a (very) quick lesson on international strategy.
I agree wholeheartedly with your notion that Sony has been forced into a defensive position - the very corner that they did not want to play in. Yes, Microsoft has pulled a brilliant strategy of (some would argue) rushing the 360 to ...
Thank you for your insightful reply, Kuest. You again bring some good points to the table... Welcome to my track list. This reply is less of a critique, and more of some musing.
There are many aspects of your reply that I agree with, particularly the comment of "Sony unwisely misjudged the extent that third party support would have on the market...". This is quite true; I also agree with your notion that by doing such, this opened the door for Microsoft to capitalize on...
Kuest, I see from your post history that you are one of few on N4G capable of a mature debate, so I welcome such a reply.
Your analysis of Sony's current situation and strategy has raised some interesting points. Hence, there are several points I would like to highlight.
In general, should a business (Sony) encounter a hinderance in achieving it's economic goal (to provide value to shareholders), there are 3 main forms of recommendation in change to strategy:

Agreed, Grahammad. Wasn't gamesblow the guy who MotherH banned from the Killzone 2 forums because he kept saying he was an "insider" and making stuff up that the Dev's themselves then discredited?
I seem to remember the same guy (gamesblow) getting banned from the official PS Blog for the same reason. I never visited his website, but reading the comments after him said it was just a Myspace page... I think someone discovered he was just a Gamestop manager in the UK.
Pity about no Damage update (yet!), but hey I'm not going to complain about a free update, especially one that gives me some new cars to buy.
I actually quite enjoy these roll-out updates by Polyphony Digital; it shows the developer is fully committed to supporting it's products but I wouldn't expect anything less from PD. Just when I think I'm finished with the game out comes an excuse to pick it up again.
I'm quite intrigued by the new GT by Citreon; that car looks...
Quite true, PirateThom. Sony and IBM already offer somewhat of what you described already (although quite different too) in terms of the IBM/Sony Cell Blade.
I don't know much about this piece of technology although I'm sure some of N4G's gurus can explain it better, but essentially we are looking at two Cell Broadband Engines stuck together with 2 GB of memory (in rough terms):
You bet me to it NipGrip, bubbles for your effort. I remember another similar article that hit the N4G frontpage a month ago that written by the same guy... here's some more 'journalism' you might have missed from the same guy, in addition to the ones you've already posted:

Yes it does (2-player), although I believe it is off-line split-screen for the moment:

Not sure if split-screen is online-capable, although its possible it could be patched later if it isn't.
Video of split-screen in motion:
@ Thor: You've got some valid concerns mate; when you hit the tape on the Edgar Nordwand track its like running into the moon.
However, I wouldn't be too worried about it. Kazunori Yamauchi said in this interview "...we can test a lot of features using Gran Turismo 5: Prologue".

@ ThatArtGuy: Good point, I didn't think of that.
Ok, I cant find the interview I was thinking of, but I found a couple from a while ago may give more credibility:
From GC 2007 - David Reeves: "what we want to do is just to make sure that people are focused on five or six games that we're bringing out.... we're not going to overload the consumer with too many new ones."

I did read somewhere that Sony was shifting their strategy to only announcing new games closer to their estimated release date, so I well believe them when Yoshida says they have many unannounced games deep in development. I think it came from an interview when he said they learnt from the mistake of announcing Home so early and incurring the wraith of the gaming community for subsequently delaying it. If I find the source, I'll post it up.
On another topic, the title confused me...
I did read somewhere that it is real-time satellite updates - in other words the picture should change as the cloud cover of the globe is updated, if thats what you mean. Don't take my word as law though.
If I find the link to the source, I'll post it up.
Agreed, lets not jump to conclusions. For those at work that cant click on the link:
"...Gamestop are now showing the PC port of the game as shipping on January 6, 2009...".
I'm sure I read somewhere that the PS3 was being developed as the lead console, so a delay on PC might well be plausible, although thats disappointing for PC owners.
Agreed, mate. The very fact the article starts off with the words "Sony Zealots..." tells the intelligent community out there exactly what kind of opinion the author holds.
Here's a few articles the author (Don Reisinger) has written in the last couple of months alone:
The Xbox 360 should win this console war:

Interestingly enough, the Playstation Store did actually have a 'music store' of sorts... kind of, but it did run through a test phase a year ago.
It was a test run on New Zealand residents, and *possibly* Australian (I'm guessing on that one, if someone from over the ditch could confirm that). The music was actually music videos, with new ones added every week or so and all offered free, located in the old store under a videos subsection folder.
It ran for several m...
